Friends of Florence Lauderdale Animal Shelter
When: August 30, 2014, 8:00am-4:00pm
Where: Moose Lodge, 4270 Chisholm Road, Florence, AL
What: Friends of Florence Lauderdale Animal Shelter & Shoals Animal Advocates are having a fundraiser on the Moose Lodge grounds 30 August, from 8:00 until ..... There is going to be a poker run, pool tournament, vendors with various items for sale and a live auction. We will also be selling bar-b-que dinners. We need help with setting up the vendors, unloading auction items, carrying heavy items purchased to buyers' vehicles, runners to 'go' & 'get' & possible drive to a store to pick up something we forgot to bring. We will have live bands all day, so we may need to help them. Also, we'll have a need with breaking down & carrying tables & chairs to vendor vehicles. Since we are groups that help shelter animals get medical care & medications that the shelter doesn't, it is a day about the animals, so we will have shelter cats & dogs for adoption. They will need to be walked, fed & watered, shown to possible adopters, and petted. There is going to be so much going on that it's difficult to list all of the possible jobs, but it would be wonderful to young, healthy people there to help us. I know saying we need 20 volunteers is wishful thinking, but we can never have enough help for an event this size. They can come & go as their schedules permit. We aren't asking anyone to stay all day!

Lunch is provided for this event and as you would imagine it takes a lot of time and help to serve 500 individuals. We need a lot of volunteers to help prepare plates of food and serve the seniors drinks, meals, and desserts at their tables. We also usually provide breakfast food for the attendees but they serve themselves. We always need extra hands to help the seniors to and from their seats with food/drinks, checking in on vendors, manning other tables (registration), etc. We would be happy to have any students that are interested in volunteering.
