One-Time Volunteer Opportunity:

Florence Main Street
301 N. Pine Street, Florence, AL
When: Feb. 6, 8:00am-3:00pm (multiple shifts available)
What: Volunteers needed to help with the 2016 Chocolate Crawl in Downtown Florence.
8:00am - 10:00am - need volunteers to help blow up balloons and distribute to participating businesses. 10:00am - 3:00pm need volunteers to help with the registration/information tent.

National Park Service
Where: Rock Springs area on the Natchez Trace
When: Feb. 6 at 10:00am until 2:00pm
What: The NPS has asked for help in keeping this site clear of evasive plants and plant trees to help with the erosion problem. On this day we will begin to plant trees in the first phase of this project. Bring your own food and snacks. Water will be provided but bringing your own drink would be good too. All  tools and equipment will be provided such as shovels, rakes and gloves.

Autism Society of Alabama
Where: The Golf Club in Anderson, AL
When: April 22nd (afternoon) and April 23 (morning)
What: We need around 5 volunteers to help with our Angels for Autism Golf Scramble. Task may include driving the Grand Prize Auto from University Honda to Clubhouse, witness tee shot and green on hole #7 and help with putting contest. Any golf experience is helpful, but not required!

United Way of Northwest Alabama
Where: 118 E Mobile St, Suite 300; Florence, AL 35630
What: We could use 4 volunteers on a recurring basis to help our 211 Information and Referral update out 211 resource database. We anticipate this project could take several weeks with 1-2 hours/week spent making calls to existing resources in our 6 county coverage area to verify and update information. This is something we have to do on a yearly basis so any assistance would be greatly appreciated. We could also use a few volunteers with event planning expertise and/or desire to help plan our 2016 Annual Meeting to take place on Tuesday, April 5th.

Keller Hospice
Where: 404 W. Avalon Ave. Suite 102, Muscle Shoals, Alabama 35661
What: Hospice Volunteers are special and a very important part of the hospice team. Patient Care Volunteers visit with patients and their families. These visits might include reading to the patient, relieving the caregiver for a short time or "just being there". Volunteers are also needed in the office to assist staff with answering the phone and general office duties. In different ways, each volunteer touches the lives of patients and families. Found out how YOU can make a difference in someone's life!!

Heart of Alabama Save Rescue Adopt (HASRA)

What: Cleaning pens, cleaning play areas, washing dishes, doing laundry, walking dogs, spending quality time with the animals

Boy Scouts of America
Where: 2211 Drake Ave SW Huntsville, AL
What: We have a Cub Scout Pack that meets at Kilby School on Wednesday afternoons after school, 3:15 PM. All volunteers will need to fill out a BSA Adult Volunteer Application, pass a background check and take Youth Protection Training. No experience in Scouting is necessary, but would be helpful. 2-4 Volunteers needed.

What: We need volunteers for a variety of jobs: backstage during shows, set building and construction, maintenance, etc.

SouthernCare Hospice
Where: 239 Azalea Dr Florence, AL 35630
What: We are currently seeking motivated individuals to become a huge part of our team. We need volunteers to help us out by providing companionship to our patients when they just need to be lifted up, as well as helping with events and activities. We go to various facilities and do activities with not only our patients but the other residence as well. We also do individual crafts for our patients just to let them know someone is thinking about them. There are so many possibilities with our company.

United Way of Northwest Alabama: Success By 6

What: We send volunteers to read in local pre-schools who request them. We will provide the books. We have pre-schools in both Lauderdale and Colbert Counties. Time needed is around 30mins to 1 hour.
