Equipment Check- Out Policy 


  • ALL gear is FREE for UNA Students to check out 

    • There's a small fee per equipment item for UNA Faculty and Staff (As of Oct.1st, 2014) 
  • Must have an active mane card & drivers license

  • Gear can be rented for a maximum of 4 days

  • Equipment is checked-out on a first come, first serve basis. 

  • There are late/ replacement fees associated with each item

  • One kayak per mane card, one day increments, and Life jackets MUST be checked out. All kayaks must be returned by 5:00pm on Fridays. (Closed Saturday)

  • Must have a means to transport kayak to and from the OAC (including straps to tie down).

All reservations are made in person.

 Equipment must be returned clean and dry or a cleaning fee will be charged.

 Equipment is due on the date stated in the rental contract. Late fees are listed per item and continue to accrue until the equipment is returned. Late fees begin the day after the equipment is due back.

The person checking out the equipment assumes sole liability for any injuries or damages sustained by him/her and/or to others while using this equipment.

The person checking out the equipment is solely responsible for any damage, loss or theft of the equipment. Replacement costs are listed and assessed at full retail value. Payments must be made in cash or check.

The person checking out the equipment agrees that the equipment is checked out in an “AS IS” condition; and has the responsibility to examine the equipment prior to accepting it. The person checking out the equipment should check equipment upon receipt to make sure it is in good working order and all the pieces are present.

I understand that sports and activities such as, but not limited to, kayaking , camping, backpacking, rock climbing, mountaineering, and other sports (collectively RECREATIONAL OUTDOOR SPORTS) involve inherent and other risks of INJURY AND DEATH. I voluntarily agree to expressly assume all risks of injury or death that may result from participation in these RECREATIONAL OUTDOOR SPORTS, or which relate in any way to the use and transportation of this equipment.

In consideration of the equipment furnished to me, I hereby release UNA, the Outdoor Adventure Program and any personnel of either from all liability for injury and/or accident that may occur while this equipment is rented to me. I assume all risks. I understand that I am to examine the equipment for fault and malfunction before its use.

Further, I understand I am solely responsible for the proper care and handling of the equipment checked out to me and for the conduct of those persons using the equipment while rented to me. I assume all responsibility for damage, loss or theft of equipment incurred during the check-out period and/or while transporting, loading/unloading, or through negligent use. I agree to pay for all repairs or replacement of the equipment damaged or lost under such conditions. I also agree that if such damage or late fines are not paid in person a late fee will be put on my account.

Finally, I accept that the UNA Outdoor Adventure Program is not responsible for any of my personal equipment which may be damaged as a result of the rental equipment and that their insurance does not cover my losses.
