This page addresses accommodations for students who will or currently reside in on-campus housing.
Conditions that may qualify for accommodations include: disabilities, chronic medical conditions, or psychological conditions that inhibit a student's ability to live in certain residence halls. Documentation must be submitted for a student if living in any of our housing facilities would cause challenges for the student due to their condition.
University Residences works with students who meet the following criteria:
The student has documented disability, chronic medical condition, or psychological condition.
A licensed medical or psychological professional must verify the student's condition. (The professional may not be a family friend or relative of the student.)
Student should download and provide Verification of Medical/Physical Condition information sheet to their physician. (click highlighted box)
Physician or student should mail documentation specified in the Verification of Medical/Physical Condition information sheet to the attention of: Director of Residence Life, UNA Box 5057, Florence, AL 35632-0001. (click highlighted box)
Documentation will be reviewed by Director of Residence Life within 2-3 weeks of receipt, and the Director will be in contact with you via your UNA Portal email account.
All information will be reviewed by staff from the University of North Alabama Health Services. Staff from Disability Support Services may be consulted.
Documentation will be kept confidential and shared with other university staff on a need-to-know basis only.
Timeline - While there is no official timeline to submit requests for special accommodations, please note that the earlier we receive your documentation, the easier it is to accommodate your request.
